Branch-office Sloboština

Branch office Sloboština is situated in the south of Zagreb, in the part of the town called Sloboština. It was opened in 1984.

The building was built for this specific purpose and has 4500 square meters of space. The children (from toddler age to 11 years) with moderate and severe mental retardation in the special program.

The programs:

• Preschool program and education (up to 7 years)
• Primary school program and education (up to 11 years) and continual training program
• Health care and prevention

The forms of accomodation:

• Half-day program
• Whole-day program
• Weekly accomodation
• Permanent accomodation

The aim of the program is to simulate as much as possible all abilities of the children with mental retardation in accordance with their psychological and physical characteristics and age. All preconditions are ensured for optimal intellectual, physical, emotional, social and health development. Furthermore, we try to integrate them into everyday life with greater degree of independence, and also make them acquire those forms of behaviour which will enable them successful socialization.

In the branch-office Slobostina there is a play group for the children included into the special therapy treatment program (home visits), and also counseling for parents.

The capacity of the branch office is 120 persons. There are 76 employees, 46 of them are specialists.

Specialists council in the branch-office are: The Council of Rehabilitators and the Expert Team.

The outside collaborators of the Center are: physiotherapist, neuro-pediatrician, and psychiatrist. There is also a dentist in charge of the whole Center and outer patients.

The branch-office Slobostina is also the training center for the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation and Medical School
