The Branch-office Paunovac is part of the Center for Rehabilitation "Zagreb". The basic activities of the institution are education and rehabilitation of the primary school children(10-21 years) with moderate and severe mental retardation.
The building is situated in the part of Zagreb called Tuškanac. It was build in the Secession style in 1921 and it is under the protection of the institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the Republic of Croatia.
Along with the primary educational program, there are various other therapies such as art therapy, musical therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy as a part of physical training. The optimal capacity of the building is 65 persons and they are offered four forms of accomodation (stationary, permanent and weekly programs, whole-day and half-day programs).
Specialists councils in the branch-office are: the Theacher's Council, the Expert Team, and Counseling for Parents. Along with educational and rehabilitation programs the institution also offers health, social, and cultural programs, additional activities and voluntary programs.
The building owns a computer workshop for education where pupils can also spend their free-time. The institution also has a ceramics workshop.
The indoor space of the building has 1200 square meters, and the outdoor space includes 5000 square meters, and it consists of football field, basketball field, greenhouse, park, garder, two small swimming pools, orchard, and playground for children.
The branch-office Paunovac has 50.5 employees, and 23.5 of them are specialists. The institution cooperates with outside collaborators: neuro-psychiatristsm, psychiatrists, psychologist and other specialists if necessary.
The institution is the training center for the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation, and cooperates with local community, NGOs, and expert organizations in Croatia and abroad.
The specific characteristic of the institution is promoting of visual arts through traditional international art colony Paunovac, which is held every year as a part of cultural manifestation "Svibanjski susreti" ("Meetings in May").
